A kind & compassionate act is usually it’s own reward”

We rely on the dedication & passion of our appreciated foster carers.

Without our foster carers, Fraser Coast Pet Warriors would not be making the difference to local companion animals that it is today.

Being a volunteer organisation, we ask that foster carers are prepared to feed their foster animals at their own expense. Donations will be administered when available and all veterinary bills are booked and paid for by Fraser Coast Pet Warriors.

Flea and worm medication can be made available, but your assistance will be very much appreciated.

Foster Carers provide a second chance at life for animals that may otherwise have been euthanised with no where else to go.

Foster carers love & care for our animals temporarily in the comfort & convenience of their own homes to ensure they are given the best chance at find a loving forever home.

If you are interested in becoming an animal foster carer, below is some information and guidelines to ensure our foster animals stay safe, happy & healthy.

A foster period can last anywhere from a few days to months, depending on the needs and adoption time frame of the animal. Arrangements can be made to transfer a foster if the animal does not function well within the foster household, however, we do ask that before fostering you consider the understanding, commitment & sometimes sacrifice involved with fostering these beautiful animals, some of which may have been abused & neglected in the past.

All Veterinarian consultations, medication and vaccination costs are covered by Fraser Coast Pet Warriors and organised by the Fraser Coast Pet Warriors Foster Coordinator.

A foster carer representative will be required to visit the foster care applicants property to ensure it is suitable for fostering animals, fencing is required to meet Fraser Coast Council rules and regulations.

To My Foster Mum -

Author Unknown

There I sat, alone and afraid,

You got a call and came right to my aid.

You bundled me up with blankets and love.

And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug.

I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold.

That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.

You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend.

You loved me and healed me and became my first friend.

And just when I thought you’d done all you could do,

There came along not one new lesson, but two.

First you said, “Sweetheart, you’re ready to go.”

“I’ve done all I can, and you’ve learned all I know.”

Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss.

Along came a new family, they even had kids!

They took me to their home, forever to stay.

At first I thought you sent me away.

Then that second lesson became perfectly clear.

No matter how far, you will always be near.

And so, Foster Mum, you know I’ve moved on.

I have a new home, with toys and a lawn.

But I’ll never forget what I learned that first day.

You never really give your fosters away.

You gave me these thoughts to remember you by.

We may never meet again, and now I know why.

You’ll remember I lived with you for a time.

I may not be yours, but you’ll always be mine.
