Trinity the Poodle has a loving home

May 10th, 2010

TrinityUPDATE:-

Trinity has found a great home.  This is an excerpt from the email sent to us from her new owner:

‘Just a note to let you know that Trinity has settled down with my poodle and she still tells him off when she has enough of his attention. She is very affectionate and focusses on me quite a bit.

They are getting along fine now, I take them both for walks and they have a good time in the yard. They stay inside when I am at work, I come back at lunch and they have a play outside, and there is no problem. She is learning to use the doggy door.

I have clipped her, cut her nails and she is booked at the vet for June 4 for desexing, teeth cleaning, hair from ears removal etc. She eats well. They both sleep on my bed all night with no issue.

So no problem and you can remove her for good for the available pet on your website.

Thank you, she is a pleasure to have around and she is well cared for and loved.’

Tilly happy in her new home

February 26th, 2010

Tilly 2_2Hey Carmel, thanks for the write up of me and Tilly, it’s lovely.

Tilly is having so much fun over here, she sleeps on my bottom bunk and sleeps all through the night and she’s doing about 90% of her toilets outside.

Snoopy actually played with Tilly nicely today (ending without her getting too rough and snoopy snapping at her) shes learning.

She discovered that we had a cow today, very exciting! =)  Her ears are standing up straighter even more today, and she’s learning to “drop” already (she’s one smart cookie)  Overall she’s settling in very well and is becoming a beautiful, relaxed little girl.

Thankyou for everything you’re doing, Carmel, you’re making such a difference in so many dogs (and peoples) lives, and say thankyou to everyone at pet warriors from me. Love, Rachel

Buddy and Sapphire – was Moe and Ginger

February 25th, 2010

Hi

In December, we extended our family and promised Carmel, of Dundathu, that we would let her know how “Moe and Ginger” were going …

At the beginning of the Christmas holidays Mum and Dad spotted an advertisement on the internet about a couple of adorable puppies ready to go to some welcoming homes from a Pet Warriors place in Dundathu. The whole family travelled there to check the puppies out, and it was like love at first sight!  We filled a couple of forms out then got the puppies ready to travel in the car.

A quick name change in the car on the way home had Moe and Ginger renamed Buddy and Sapphire. When the puppies arrived at their new home they got comfortable pretty fast. Their bed was the cardboard box that they were in when they were in the car coming home.

Buddy and Sapphire

On the first and second nights Yu-An and Jake stayed up until almost midnight to tend to the puppies to make sure they were relaxed enough to sleep for at least a few hours. Everybody in the house also woke up really early that morning as well. As the first week flew by Sapphire seemed to be a bit more inquisitive than Buddy as well as a bit more energetic. Buddy loved to be cuddled up to and when about a month had passed he came up to us when we were sitting on the ground and snuggled in on/next to our lap.

After they went to a couple of obedience classes they learnt to respond to a couple of commands as long as they had some “encouragement” (food). Getting up early in the morning soon became like a daily ritual, especially for Yu-An, who got up early before the puppies “motivated” us to get up.

A month ago Buddy and Sapphire graduated from puppy preschool and now they have just started puppy teen school. We also have made a luxurious bed for them. We have been taking them to the beach and for small walks around the block.

So, I’d say “Buddy and Sapphire” are doing just great!

Billy the Kid

Billy the Kid

This is the story of Billy the kid.

Hi I’m Billy, a Poodle X and I am 4yrs old living with the Harmon Family. My owner Scott is a great mate who takes me for a walk every morning then its home for breakfast (bones or mixed dry/wet food).

My friend Tammy who is a Miniature Poodle is a little taller and she is black. We get on great especially when I nip her back legs to egg her on in a play fight. I love to hoon round the house annoying Tammy. I have been going to Obedience School so I don’t run away and maybe my master (Scott) will take me to agility or flyball training in 2010. I am a cheeky little boy with a great attitude.

I was rescued by Pam who is a volunteer foster parent with Pet Warriors. I will always be thankful for her and my new loving family.

Merry Christmas to everyone at Pet Warriors.

Nullah

October 27th, 2009

Nullah_1From a beginning of a 10 month old pup who was initially too frightened to look at me or even to take food from me without barking and me not sure of taking on the responsibility of adopting a dog Nullah is progressing into a very sociable puppy who is becoming capable of meeting or simply passing most other dogs and people with calmness and dignity and extending her inexhaustible capacity for showing affection and kindness.  She still has some issues with balls, bicycles, motor bikes and grumpy aggressive people but we are working with her on that and she is responding.

It is true that Nullah does involve significant responsibility, time, patience, commitment, affection, forgiveness, a bit of anxiety and a few expenses but the rewards that she gives in return to Sandra, myself, my daughter and her kelpie pup Mia are more than what we could ever have expected and I doubt whether we could ever expect to repay Nullah or Carmel and the other Fraser Coast Pet Warriors for the joy and rewards (not forgetting some of the heart aches and our forgiveness of her and her forgiveness of us) that Nullah has brought to our lives and the lives of so many people and so many other dogs that she meets at Carmel’s obedience and agility classes, on the street, in the park, in the paddock, at the sailing club, on the beach and out in the boat.  Nullah has quickly become my best mate and loves swimming in the surf, walking and running at full speed across the beach, along the river bank and across open paddocks.  Nullah is also a constant companion to Sandra at home during the day while I am at work following her out into the yard or lying at her feet when she is working inside.  Nullah is always pleased to see us in the morning and when we come home and sad to see us leave her or put her to bed and for that we are truly grateful and love her.

My advice to anyone who is considering taking on a pet is to carefully read Carmel’s articles on “Children, Empathy and Pets” and “Dogs and Children” and if you can find it in your heart to positively respond to the articles take on the responsibility, suffer a bit of pain, reap the enormous rewards that can flow and make the world a better place.

Happy Birthday Nullah.

Thanks Colin, Sandra and Nullah

Millie

Dear Pam

here is my testimonial regarding Millie.

Many thanks to Pam and the Fraser Coast Pet Warriors for giving us our beautiful little dog Millie.

After losing our much loved 15 yr old dogs recently we thought we would never want another dog again as it is so painful to lose them.

However our home and hearts seemed so empty that when I saw an article in the paper about Pet Warriors and the great work they do I knew I had to contact them.

Pam was so nice and helpful and within a few days had found a lovely dog for us that we called Millie. She is a lap dog who loves nothing better than to be with us constantly and is very gentle and lovable.

She is just what we needed at this stage of our lives and Im sure will bring us a lot of joy, we couldnt have chosen better ourselves.

I hope other people will open their hearts and homes to other dogs who desperately need good homes.

Thank You

Andrea Mackander

Beasley

Dear Pam,

A few weeks ago you rang me and told me about this little fluffy dog that you had. His name is Beasly and he is a 2 year old Poodle cross. You brought him around to my house. I am a single mum with 2 kids, and we already have a 9 month old Shi tzu cross Maltese and her name is Mitzi. They got on so well when you were here but the minute you left, they got on like a house on fire. He doesnt leave my side. He has already taught Mitzi some good habits like first thing in the morning they go outside to do their business.

At first he wouldnt eat or drink much at all, but with love attention and perseverance he did come around. You told me that he wouldnt eat dry biscuits, well my 10 year old daughter got him to eat the biscuits right out of her hand. I was so proud of her. I also took him to the vet just to get him checked over and I got all his needles up to date just to make sure. The vet said he is fine, he is very skinny, I could try some Trim milk once a day and that should help him weight wise. Apart from a little gingervitus he is otherwise in good health.

He waits until Mitzi eats then he will eat. Now I have 2 beautiful Children and 2 beautiful dogs.

I will keep you up to date with how he is going.

Pam I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart, keep up the fantastic job you and all the other carers out there, you are all angels sent from above.

I can not thank you enough.

Kind Regards

Marica Maddock
